Protect Your Thatch Roof from Fire
“It won’t happen to me” is not adequate thatch fire protection. Your home is one of your biggest lifetime investments, not to mention both the emotional and monetary value of possessions and home contents. Accidents happen and when they do – you need to be protected.
Due to the flammable nature of thatch it is often considered a higher risk roofing material than other roofing solutions. There are however steps that you can take to bring down the risk factors. These include:
- Applying thatch fire protection
- Ensuring electrical cables do not pass through the thatched roof
- Ensure that chimneys and flues passing through the roof have adequate heat protection
- Installing lighting conductors
- Having a rational fire plan in place in the event of a fire
As well as offering you increased peace of mind, applying thatch fire protection can also reduce the cost of your home insurance premiums, increase the lifespan of your thatched roof and reduce dust fall from the roof over time.
Thatch Fire Protection Services
Bosazza Roofing & Timber Homes is an approved applicator of Thatch Marshall 8000 – a water based fire retardant spray that is applied to thatch to prevent the spread of flames in the event of a fire.
Our team are trained in the installation of fire retardant thatch fire blankets which are woven into the roof as it is thatched. The blanket is a membrane that sits in between the layers of thatch and prevents the spread of fire.
